The Three Kings have been a part of the tree lighting for the past three years have been a popular addition. They represent the journey from distant lands to Bethlehem while bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh upon the birth of baby Jesus and are popular among residents from Latin speaking countries. The celebration will include a toy giveaway with volunteers from the city’s Youth Bureau acting as elves. Entertainment will be provided by the All City Band, the Mayor’s Interfaith Choir, Transcend Dance Group, Young at Arts and students of the music school at the Doles Center. Candy canes, courtesy of the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce and hot chocolate will be served.
All are welcome to come together in the spirit of community celebration to enjoy the spirit of the holiday season. In the event of rain, the festivities will be held on the ground floor of city hall.
